Five Eighths
An ageing gangster and his protégé are forced to confront the chasm between them as they dispose of a body in the river Thames.
'Five Eighths' is an award-winning short film made in East London. We wanted to explore the beautifully mundane ritual of queuing, where deep-rooted order collides with an utterly lawless situation. After all, what's more British than maintaining decorum while the world around you descends into chaos?
Shot on beautiful 35mm in East London with an incredible cast and crew, and sound designed at Pinewood Studios, the film traps these two characters in close physical quarters while exploring the vast emotional distance between them—a mentor and student who can't quite bridge the gap between generations, despite being inches apart.
